CHINA IN MOTION | 17 Secrets to Slashing the Time to Production, to Market, and to Profits in China, Japan and South Korea

At the request of Siemens Motor Division in Germany, I spent over two thousand hours interviewing Korean, Japanese and Chinese business people to learn how to do business with Asians. I also interviewed CEOs, directors, managers, engineers, purchasers, consultants and entrepreneurs from around the globe who live in or travel regularly to Pacific Rim on business.

Only 55 Copies Still Available: CONTACT ME

Consistently, Asian told me they had never been asked these questions  and had never before confided their thoughts on these cultural issues. And so, my research yielded information you won’t find anywhere else. Those two thousand hours revealed priceless insights into how Asians think and uncovered cross-cultural and communication mistakes that undermine trust and cost western companies untold wealth.

My intercultural programs are based on these findings. Now you get to benefit from the hard-won business information and advice that has made millions upon millions of increased revenue for my clients.

Reading Ms. Doucet’s book, I had just the opposite impression: I wondered how she could have gathered all this knowledge over all these years without bursting first. China In Motion should be sold by the carton to companies that do business in the Far East, because the ideas apply, not just to those who go to the East, but to the folks who interact with the Asian customer on an ongoing basis. Hundreds of companies need to hear you speak.”

READERS’ COMMENTS

“I think the secret to success in business is to find a problem and then bring a solution to the problem. Your book, China in Motion, solves the problem for Western managers. I would say to any business person flying to China for the first time: If you don’t have this book on the plane with you it should be because you left it at home after memorizing it.”

“Your first book, China In Motion, is still one of the greats on this topic (and I have read a whole stack of books on the subject). It is even better the second time through. The angle you take that is most valuable for me is—this is how you as a Westerner are perceived. That’s where your problems come from. You’re different. You’re perceived as different. This book was the most effective in broadening a western perspective and providing both tactical and strategic ideas to improve relationships (with emphasis upon building lasting relationships – not just phony tactics to win short term business).”

Amazon Reviews A great guide covering all the basics!
I have to say that this book would be interesting not only to the business leaders first establishing their contacts with Asia or developing/mending existing relationships with Chinese, Japanese, or Korean partners. It makes a great reading even if you are not going to Asia anytime soon! But if traveling to any of these countries is what you want to do, do yourself a favor and save yourself from possible aggravations that could have been prevented so easily by just doing your homework!
This information would also be interesting to a student of either Chinese, Japanese, or Korean languages as well. When do you actually start eating while dining with your Chinese partners, before the host does, after they do, what is appropriate? What is more polite: to leave some of your food on the plate or eat it all up? What is the biggest problem most American businessmen have in Asia? What is it with the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and the Asians?!

Fascinating reading! I enjoyed the simple style and clearly expressed ideas. It is one of those books that would cost you if you didn’t read in case you do consider a trip (regardless of its nature) to Asia! The book also has eleven appendices, which include A Guide on How to Find a Trusted Intermediary (for the Entrepreneur), a brief and insightful one-minute history of a 4,000 to 5,000-year-old culture of China, and a list of suggested further reading which I found very helpful also.”
