BRAIN WAVE PATTERNS

Brain wave states or patterns fall into 4 main categories: Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta.

Brain wave patterns can be seen in EEG (electroencephalogram) readings. Scientists measure brain waves in cycles per second Hertz (Hz). The slower the brain activity, the lower the number of Hz. Power increases as frequency decreases.

Human beings of all countries and cultures experience the same brain wave states.

It’s important to note that we typically pass through all four states on a daily basis. And you should see the four states as a continuum. Drowsiness as we wake up in the morning and drift off to sleep at night, REM sleep (Theta). Alertness as we go about doing tasks that require focus and concentration (Beta). Relaxation after completing a task and having a glass of wine at the end of the day (Alpha). Deep, dreamless sleep (Delta).

Most of us spend most of our day in Beta.  While required for most of our daily activities, Beta is also the one state where we experience anxiety. A high Beta state induces high anxiety.

In my work, the most interesting state is Theta because it’s the Theta state that allows us to access information in the unconscious mind that is not normally accessible to our conscious awareness. It is from this state that we can change the subconscious programs and imprints that get in the way of the life we want.

BETA WAVES (1330 Hz)

Beta Brain Wave Pattern

Beta largely involves the conscious mind.

When we engage in day-to-day mental activities that require focus, concentration, alertness and cognition, such as active conversation, we are in Beta.

In this state, there is a preoccupation with doing. It is associated with effort and struggle. So any time we’re exerting effort of any sort, we’re in Beta

The Beta state is essential for survival. And this is where our negative emotions can manifest themselves. The Emotions of Anxiety are all Beta states.

Higher levels of Beta attach to stress and anxiety, less clarity of thought, and feelings of separateness. In elevated stress, we experience the fight, flight or freeze response.

Stress causes us to age more rapidly. It negatively affects our immune system and shortens our life. Unrelieved stress leads to disease.

If positive thinking, affirmations and mantras and Law of Attraction strategies are not working for you, it’s because these approaches to change largely involve the conscious mind. But it’s the subconscious that rules our life. That is why we have to look to methods that slow down the brain waves and give us access to deeper levels of our mind.

ALPHA WAVES (713 Hz)

Alpha Brain Wave Pattern

Alpha is a calm, healthy, peaceful state of mind. Awake with a relaxed focus and a blissful sense of well-being.

Alpha is the brain wave state that is activated during hypnosis and meditation. It is the state of creative visualization, reflection, increased productivity, enhanced learning, mindfulness and memory retention. Activities such as dancing, listening to music or engaging in a hobby induce this state of light trance. And that is what makes the activities so enjoyable.

Tapping on meridian points slows brain waves and induces this calmer, more relaxed state of mind. Mindfulness activities such as closing the eyes and breathing slowly and deeply allow us to easily access this more relaxed state of mind.

From a health standpoint, Alpha produces serotonin which reduces anxiety, improves sleep and enhances immune functioning.

Reducing stress by slowing down our brain waves retards the aging process.

It’s in the delicious drowsiness pre-sleep and pre-waking that we can begin to access the unconscious mind.

THETA WAVES (3.57 Hz)

Theta Brain Wave Pattern

In Theta, you bypass the conscious mind and access the unconscious mind.

It’s a very positive mental state of deep meditation, trance, increased creativity, induced hypnosis. and intuitive problem-solving.

Dr. Bruce Lipton says that we’re in the world of Theta until after the age of six, “just downloading experiences and behaviors from other people.”

We pass through this stage while dreaming during sleep. It is characterized by Rapid Eye Motion (REM) in which the brain’s neurons are almost as active as when we’re awake. REM sleep helps consolidate memories and integrate learning.

Interestingly, we can go into waking Theta while doing repetitive or habitual tasks, such as driving along the highway. If you have ever arrived at your destination without knowing how you got there, experienced “runner’s high” or being “in the zone,” you were in a Theta state.

From the Theta state, the Subconscious Clearing statements in my BREAK FREE SYSTEM™ change the unconscious beliefs, programs and early imprints that run our lives.

DELTA WAVES (0.53.5 Hz)

Delta Brain Wave Pattern

In this state of deep, dreamless (non-REM) sleep, we have no awareness of our mind or physical body.

Delta provides access to the unconscious and “collective unconscious” mind.

From the standpoint of spirituality, Delta is the gateway to deep spiritual connection and sense of oneness with the universe.

From a health standpoint, the Delta state releases anti-aging hormones such as human growth hormone, DHEA and melatonin.
